Service has been temporarily restored to TDS customers who recently experienced an Internet and long distance outage in Maine.  At approximately 3:15 p.m. Wed., Sept. 1, 2010, TDS Telecommunications Corp. (TDS®) Network Management Operations Center reported an outage in North Anson and Hampden, Maine. Network engineers began their investigation immediately and isolated the problem late Wednesday.

Currently, equipment is in route to the site from the vendor; members of the TDS team will begin the installation as soon as it arrives.  In the meantime, TDS has rerouted traffic, but customers should expect Internet slowness and reduced or intermittent long distance call quality until the final fix is in place later today.

Approximately 3,200 customers experienced an Internet outage, as well as, the inability to make outbound, out-of-state long distance calls during the outage. The communities impacted included: North Anson, Hampden, Corinna, and Hartland. Local calling, intra-state long distance and 911 services are fully operational and were not impacted.
